  1. What can I say that’s going to embody Rodney. Its not easy to put into words how we all felt about him .He was part of our circle of friends for over 30 years . There are just too many great times to list, but none of our outings were complete without Rodney who would always make the trip from wherever he was to be part of the fun. He was also one of the funniest blokes i ever met. He had a way of seeing the humour in everyday ordinary situations and people. Even in Hospital he would have me laughing about some nut in the ward. I dont think I ever heard him say a nasty word about anyone, but he could tell a story that would have you pissing yourself. He always seemed to connect with everyone, always had time for a chat and always interested in what was happening in your life. We could go months without seeing him, but we would pick up right where we left off. He approached this bloody cancer like everything, with a positive attitude and determination. I was so happy for him when he found Nice and made a life for himself in Thailand. It was shame he had to come back because of the illness, but on the upside we all got spend more time with him in the last year or so. I know we were all hoping that some miracle would occur and he would be here for years to come. It was not to be and he leaves a big hole. But he would not want us to mope so id like to share some things that will always bring a smile to my face when I think of him: Travelling with no baggage and buying all his gear at markets in Thailand for $20. Keeping money in all sorts of weird places and finding it months later, Pub crawls 1-18 , the fat chick, peanuts at the footy , Twisties all over his car in Wagga , sinking pots in Wagga and a thousand other pubs . Moonee Ponds , running (nobody smiles and runs , but I suspect he did!) , picture frames, his grin , his sense of humour. Thank you for being in my life.
Vale mate. we wont forget you.

      • What do I say. You were my friend for so many reasons – much more than the fact that you could reach Nanna’s biscuit tin and I couldn’t!
It all began in kinder and Sunday School and continued until right now. So happy that we spent time together a few weeks ago but devastated that I couldn’t be there today. You will always be on my mind my friend. Love Always, Kell ❤️

  8. My deepest sympathies to Geoff, Steve, Brian & Wendy. Rod was one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever met where one of my biggest regrets is losing contact because “life got in way”.

The times we spent in the back of his framing shop were some of the best times of my life. Living off baked beans, sardines and anything else that was cheap and came in a can. I remember folding those bloody corners, nearly getting killed by flying pieces of aluminium moulding and just laughing.

And then there were the alcohol fuelled hi-jinx. Big nights at the Racecourse Hotel, road trips, doing the odd runner and everything in between.

This is a big wake up call to reach out to those that you care about and simply make the time. You were a special guy Rod, rest in peace my friend xxx

  9. Our Sincerest Condolences to Nice, and all Rod’s Family. You are at peace and free from pain. To Geoff, Marcia, Jack and Molly we are thinking of you all.
